The benefits and applications of plant tissue culture: a revolutionary method of plant propagation

Elbertt Ferris*

Plant tissue culture is a method of plant propagation that involves growing plant cells, tissues, or organs in a controlled environment under sterile conditions. This method is used to produce large numbers of identical plants quickly and efficiently, without the need for seeds or traditional propagation methods such as cuttings or division. Plant tissue culture is used in a variety of applications, including the production of new plant varieties, the conservation of endangered species, and the mass production of horticultural crops for food, medicine, and ornamental purposes. The process begins with the selection of a small piece of tissue, such as a leaf or stem, from a healthy plant. This tissue is then placed in a sterile environment and grown on a nutrientrich medium.
