In Brazil, kala-azar or Visceral Leishmaniasis (VL) is a parasitic disease with a high degree of lethality, transmitted to humans mainly by sandflies belonging to the species Lutzomyia longipalpis. The search for alternative products for the elimination of this vector aims to minimize the impacts caused by the synthetic insecticides used by the control programs. Therefore, the insecticidal activity of Caryocar brasiliense plant extracts on Lutzomyia longipalpis was evaluated in this study.
